Description
The reduction of energy consumption and the possible reuse of waste heat are becoming important issues in the design and operation of large data centers. The main objective of the SIMOPEK project is to model, simulate and optimize the energy efficiency of high performance data centers using a wholistic approach using the data center of BAdW-LRZ. Together with Fraunhofer SCAI methods and software components for modeling and simulating all energy flows of a data center are developed for the first time. These take both the highly dynamic load behavior of the HPC system as well as new technological components (hot water cooling - IBM) and concepts for recycling the waste heat generated into account (adsorption cooling – SorTech AG).
