HPC-Software für skalierbare Parallelrechner - 2. HPC-Call
In a second funding round of the funding program "ICT 2020 - Research for Innovation" in the year 2010, the BMBF is funding joint science and industry joint projects, which specifically address the challenges of software for many-core environments and highly scalable computers. Out of more than 80 submitted sketches with an application volume of more than 100 million euros a total of 12 research projects were selected for funding by an international expert committee.
The aim of the funding is to expand the prevalent sequential and parallel programming methods to a combination of parallel and distributed programming techniques, the elimination of the increasing bottleneck due to limited memory bandwidth as processor performance increases, the development of appropriate operating system-related software concepts, new development environments for heterogeneous systems, and a closer interlinking of simulation and visualization can be addressed.
